GTAW which is also known as TIG welding (Tungsten Inert Gas) is a welding process in which a tungsten electrode along with filler metal rods is utilized to produce the weld and is most commonly used to weld thin materials. Oxidation and contamination are controlled and eliminated by using an inert gas shield, usually Argon or Helium. Some welds do not require Filler metal rods (Fusion Weld / Tack Weld).
